Computer Numerically Controlled, or CNC punching, is a great way to create holes or specific cut-out designs in certain materials such as metal, rubber, and plastics. CNC punching is a highly versatile process, and it can be used on a wide range of applications, from perforated shapes, countersinks, louvers, embossments, and extrusions. At Evansville Sheet Metal Works, we are a custom metal fabrication company that provides quality CNC punching services.Request A Quote
Advantages of a CNC Punching Service
1. Hole punching process
For parts with many holes that sort products in a manufacturing process, many of our customers find that punched holes work much better than those cut on a laser. We use the process of punching to “round down” the top edge of the hole, causing fewer parts to catch on the sharp edge of a laser-cut hole.
2. Cheaper than similar services
Generally, CNC punching services offer a more economical price when compared to similar services such as laser cutting. For instance, if you need multiple holes or cut-outs, CNC punching is a cost-efficient way to achieve this.
Using a punch press, we turn out multiple shapes at a low cost and high speed. Hence, there is less waste of raw material, saving you money in the long run. When you want to produce large quantities of parts for your project, CNC punching is your best bet at competitive pricing.
3. Precise punching
When dealing with components that are built into high-tech machinery, precision is of the utmost importance. Precision not only ensures parts are ready to install or use without any modifications or adjustments but also ensures they’re produced with the highest possible tolerance.
CNC punches can produce various shapes and parts with precision, even complex designs. This precision ensures you can meet industry standards and maintain the uniformity of all parts.
4. Accurate and repeatable
CNC punches can produce complex shapes with a high degree of accuracy and consistency. Once we create a design or template, we save it for future use to create additional parts.Talk To A Pro
What Is CNC Punching?
CNC punching is a sheet metal manufacturing process that involves punching holes into different types of material. The process is programmed using a computer, whereby the machine receives a message from the computer, letting it know where to position the material, where to punch the holes, and what shapes to punch them in.
The CNC punching machine then places the sheet metal under the punching ram, and the desired pattern is punched and formed, using a combination of single hits and overlapping geometrics.
CNC punching machines can also punch 3D forms such as dimplets and electrical knockouts on either side of the material. Since CNC punching is a complex process, it requires experts like us for correct execution.

We’ve worked with Ken Woehler on several projects for a couple years now. Great dude. He gets stuff done, and he doesn’t mess around . . . not afraid to take on new unusual projects either. Thanks Ken!
Fantastic! Ordered on Wednesday. Arrived the following Tuesday as promised. Very happy with items (aluminum sheets cut to order).
